A Lathe Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC lathe machines to produce precision components according to technical drawings and specifications. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to follow safety and quality procedures.
Set up and operate CNC lathe machines to produce precision metal parts.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and machining specifications.
Select appropriate tools, inserts, and fixtures for each machining task.
Adjust machine settings such as speeds, feeds, and cutting depth.
Monitor machine operations to ensure accurate and high-quality output.
Inspect finished parts using measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
Perform basic machine programming or editing of CNC programs as required.
Troubleshoot and resolve minor machining or tooling issues.
Maintain machines through regular cleaning, lubrication, and preventive checks.
Follow all workplace safety procedures and use PPE appropriately.
Document production information, defects, and machine adjustments.
Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production targets.
 
Strong knowledge of CNC lathe operations and machining processes.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documents.
Experience using precision measuring tools.
Understanding of cutting tools, tool offsets, and machining parameters.
Basic CNC programming knowledge (G-code, offsets, tool changes).
Mechanical aptitude with problem-solving abilities.
Strong focus on quality, accuracy, and safety.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
