Job Title: CNC Machine and Laser Cutter Specialist
Department: Manufacturing/Production Reports To: Production Manager/Supervisor
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machine and Laser Cutter Specialist to operate, maintain, and optimize our CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines and laser cutting systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in machining, laser cutting operations, and precision manufacturing. You will be responsible for setting up machines, programming (G-code/CAM software), ensuring quality output, and performing routine maintenance to maximize efficiency and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
CNC Machine Operations:
•Set up, calibrate, and operate CNC machines (mills, lathes, routers, etc.) to produce precision parts.
•Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD/CAM files to program machines (G-code/M-code).
•Perform tool changes, adjust machine settings, and ensure proper material alignment.
•Monitor machining processes to maintain quality and efficiency.
•Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical/electrical issues.
Laser Cutter Operations:
•Operate and maintain CO2, fiber, or other laser cutting machines for metal, wood, acrylic, and other materials.
•Adjust laser parameters (power, speed, focal length) for optimal cutting/engraving results.
•Ensure proper material handling and machine safety protocols.
•Inspect finished products for defects and adherence to specifications.
General Duties:
•Perform quality control checks using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
•Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety regulations (OSHA/company standards).
•Collaborate with engineers and designers to optimize production processes.
•Document machine performance, maintenance logs, and production reports.
•Assist in training junior operators as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
•Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or apprenticeship in CNC machining/laser cutting preferred.
•Experience: 3+ years operating CNC machines and laser cutters in a manufacturing environment.
•Technical Skills:
oProficiency in CNC programming (G-code, CAD/CAM software like Mastercam, Fusion 360, AutoCAD).
oKnowledge of laser cutting systems (e.g., Epilog, Trotec, Bystronic).
oAbility to read engineering drawings and geometric tolerances (GD&T).
oFamiliarity with metallurgy/material properties.
•Soft Skills:
oStrong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
oAbility to work independently and in a team.
oTime management and adaptability in fast-paced environments.

Physical Requirements:
•Ability to lift up to 50 lbs/ 23KGs. and stand for extended periods.
•Comfortable working with loud machinery and wearing PPE (safety glasses, ear protection, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience with 5-axis CNC machines or robotic automation.
•Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma principles.
