Description

Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Caregivers help with basic tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.

Monitoring Health: Caregivers observe the individual's health status, noting any changes and reporting them to healthcare professionals or family members.

Administering Medication: They ensure that the person they are caring for takes prescribed medications on time and in the correct dosage.

Providing Companionship: Caregivers offer emotional support and companionship, engaging in conversations and activities to alleviate feelings of loneliness and isolation.

Preparing Meals: They plan and prepare nutritious meals based on dietary restrictions and preferences of the person they are caring for.

Assisting with Mobility: Caregivers help individuals move around, transfer from bed to wheelchair, and assist with exercises prescribed by physical therapists.

Performing Light Housekeeping: This includes tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe and hygienic environment for the person receiving care.

Running Errands: Caregivers may be responsible for grocery shopping, picking up prescriptions, and other errands necessary for the household.

Providing Transportation: Some caregivers are required to drive the individuals to medical appointments, therapy sessions, or social outings.

Documenting Care: Caregivers maintain records of the care provided, including changes in health status, medications administered, and any notable events during their shift.

Crisis Intervention: They need to stay calm and composed during emergencies and be capable of taking appropriate action, such as calling for medical assistance or administering first aid.

Collaborating with Healthcare Professionals: Caregivers often work alongside nurses, doctors, and therapists, following their instructions and updating them on the individual's condition.

Respecting Dignity and Independence: Caregivers should always respect the individual's dignity, privacy, and independence, encouraging them to do tasks they are capable of doing on their own.

Continuous Learning: Staying informed about the specific conditions or illnesses they are dealing with and learning new caregiving techniques and approaches.

Family Communication: Keeping the family members informed about the individual's condition and any changes in their health or daily routines.
